Last weekend I travelled to the beautiful market town of Abergavenny, to attend the well know annual Abergavenny Food Festival. Over 200 food producers, exhibited their wonderful products over the weekend to over 30,000 visitors.
The the sun was shinning, the streets were bustling and the town was packed with thousands of food lovers. People who visited the festival were spoilt for choice with so many varieties of different food and drinks stands from homemade cider, cheeses, gin, bread, cakes, chutneys, toasties, pizzas, pasta, cocktails and beers to name a few, there was something for everyone. There wasn't just food to keep the visitors happy and entertained, but there was also live cookery demonstrations from celebrity chefs running throughout the day, and at night music throughout the town, and even a party at the beautiful castle.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to see everything at the festival as I was busy working for Chase Distillery, a Gin and Vodka company from Hereford. Chase are a Single Estate Distillery which means they produce everything they need to make their amazing Gins and Vodkas on their family farm.
I was working at the 'Gin Palace' and was fortunate enough to try some amazing flavoured gins from around the country, with my favourite being 'Williams Pink Grapefruit Gin'.
However at night time I attended the party at the castle, where I tried amazing Pizza's made by Earth Ovens. Earth Ovensis a very small family run pizza oven making company from Presteigne who run workshops, teaching you all you need to know about making your very own pizza oven!
The variety and standard of delicious food at the festival was second to none. I would highly recommend the food festival to all foodies out there for next year. It's a great weekend away to spend with friends and family enjoying the finest of food!!
